When it comes to her mom-to-be wardrobe, Jennifer Lawrence is embracing her inner dad.
Today, the actor and her husband, art gallery director Cooke Maroney, ventured to The Row store on the Upper East Side. Lawrence—dressing for both the freezing temperatures and the twilight of her pregnancy—kept it comfortable in lots of layers. Over a white T-shirt, she wore a blue gingham button-up, which she paired with white under-the-bump sweatpants. She bundled up in a black wool coat and added a white scarf with a dainty multicolored pattern.
But it was Lawrence’s shoe choice that demanded the most attention. With a pair of mustard yellow socks, she wore chunky New Balance 1906R x Aime Leon Dore sneakers in mint green and black. While she’s the quintessential Upper West Side mom, in her chunky ALD New Balances, Lawrence was dressing the part of a Lower East Side dad.

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t the only celebrity mom to add dad sneakers to their maternity wardrobe lately. Margot Robbie, who welcomed her first child with husband Tom Ackerley in October, also included the statement sneaks in her repertoire. In June, the actor accessorized an oversized beige suit with a pair of equally large New Balances. Perhaps these two know that the key to maternity style was in dad’s closet all along.
