Dressing for the New York cold spell is tough. Sydney Sweeney’s week in NYC was swathed in sumptuous capes, shearling coats, and chic trenches by way of Ferragamo, Burberry, and Chloe. But Bella Hadid has returned from the (marginally) more temperate Texas with a sartorial plan of action. First, she ensconced herself in a tighter fitting denim: a signal toward the skinny jean revival, and a practical, warmer choice of jean compared to roomier, breezier styles.
Now, she’s turned to her big sister Gigi Hadid’s wardrobe. The model was photographed leaving Gigi’s home in NoHo, New York in a casual fit: a black zip-up and top, Tona leggings, pull-on boots, and a black and blue reversible knit and quilted puffer jacket from her sister’s brand Guest in Residence. When in doubt, little sisters know they have a second wardrobe ready and waiting…
She kept it laidback with her hair pulled up in a tight bun and secured with a black headband, with oval-shaped sunglasses, and silver hoop earrings.
The humble legging has become a practical and—dare I say it—chic go-to among the girls in the know this season, and as our silhouettes get close-fitting once again. Kendall Jenner wore her leggings with riding boots and a furry hat in Aspen.
But this is also a bit of a throwback to Hadid’s pilates princess era fits, when you’d often catch her in Victoria’s Secret bralettes and baggy Nike nylons. A far cry, too, from her current Western-indebted wardrobe filled with chaps, Stetsons, and vintage cowboy boots. Needs must though.
