The queen of the best heartbreak album of 2024, Rosie, is now also the star of the year’s most romantic campaign. In honor of Valentine’s Day, Skims tapped Rosé to model the brand’s comfortable yet cute lingerie and pajama sets—adorned with hearts and kiss prints in pretty shades of pink, red, and beyond.
For the star, it was an easy answer when the offer for the Skims campaign came through. (And the holiday is just three days after her birthday, giving her another reason to celebrate next month.) Plus, due to Rosé’s busy work schedule and the fact that Valentine’s Day isn’t a prominent holiday in Korea, the star has never really had the chance to celebrate it with fans. “Korea doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day as much as they do out here in America,” she tells Vogue. “I’ve always liked it because it feels like a second round of my birthday. I’d never really done anything for Valentine’s Day with the fans or anything, so I also thought that this campaign would be a cute gift for my fans.”
While Rosé sang about heartbreak in 2024, perhaps 2025 will be the year she writes about nontoxic relationships. Below, read as Vogue caught up with Rosé about her favorite Skims pieces (hint: she’s just like us and can be found stalking the Skims site on drop days), her Valentine’s Day traditions, and the best song to listen to when you get your heart broken.
Vogue: How did the Skims campaign come about? Was it intentional to front the brand’s Valentine’s Day campaign after releasing your first album about love, heartbreaks, and toxic relationships?
Rosé: It was easy for me to say yes because Valentine’s Day feels a bit personal to me for a funny reason. It’s only three days after my birthday, and I always felt like Valentine’s Day made my birthday seem very pretty and romantic. So I just have this personal connection to the day, and although I don’t celebrate it every year, it feels like a second round of my birthday. I thought it was just perfect. I had never done anything for Valentine’s Day with the fans or anything so I thought it would be a cute gift to the fans.
What are some of your favorite products from Skims?
I love the soft smoothing seamless collection. I’ve always been obsessed with the pieces and am so curious as to how they get so soft. I’ve had so many instances where I was tempted to buy a bunch but they would always be sold out. Maybe now that I’ve done the campaign, they’ll send it to me. I’ve been one of those girls who have gone online on the day Skims says they are going to restock, and put everything in my shopping cart only to find out everything is sold out already. So yeah, I’ve been heartbroken by online shopping.
Do you have any Valentine’s Day traditions? Do you do any Galentine’s Day events with your close friends or do you like to eat heart shaped candy on the holiday?
Actually, you know what? I don't know if this is sad, but I made chocolate covered cookies once. I think I gave them to all my group members, my producer, and the people that were around me at the time.
And how would you spend your ideal Valentine’s Day and where?
In my ideal world, I’ll spend it with the love of my life, in summer, in the most beautiful place ever. I'll be showered with love. I mean who doesn’t dream of having a very romantic getaway?
Which one item from this capsule collection is a must have that you’ll be recommending to all your friends?
The little pink mini dress with the heart cutout. The fabric is so soft and comfortable. I also loved the two piece set with the kiss marks. But they’re all my picks.
For any of your fans who might be going through a breakup around this time, which song would you recommend them playing from your album?
That’s so sad, going through a breakup on Valentine’s Day. I grew up in Korea; Korea doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day as much as they do out here, so even if I was going through a breakup during Valentine’s Day, it wasn’t too bad. But I feel like for people out here in America, it would probably be a really bad time to get over a breakup. I think they’d need a little bit of a healing moment, so maybe “Dance All Night.” “Dance All Night” is sad, but can also be a hopeful song. This song might be a nice one to be like “There, There, It’s all right. We can just dance this night away.”
Can we expect a tour for your album in 2025?
Oh my gosh, this year may be too soon. I would love to do a solo tour, but me being me, I’m a big perfectionist. I’ll definitely be having shows that the fans are aware of, and I’m excited to see what more there is that I can do. I am excited to be on stage and any opportunity that sounds interesting and fun, I’d love to do it.
