Bad Bunny may be bringing the Puerto Rican sound to New York, but he certainly didn’t bring its 80-degree weather. Still, the dead of winter temps didn’t stop him from rocking a pair of flip flops.
The singer and rapper’s love for Puerto Rico is evident in his music. (In fact, he just announced a 21 show residency at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot this coming summer.) But he’s also using his style to show off his hometown pride—even if it isn’t exactly conducive to the dead of winter.
Yesterday, Bad Bunny spent the day promoting his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which included a Jimmy Fallon-backed performance in the subway. Later on, ahead of his guest spot on The Tonight Show, he dashed from his Tribeca hotel to a waiting car in a deeply incongruent outfit: a white button-up and baggy light-wash blue jeans, and gold-rimmed sepia aviators. The singer mixed his weather preparedness (a brown leather and shearling-lined aviator hat and a black scarf) with a pair of brown leather flip-flops and a jibaro pava hat, which he carried in hand. Also not to be missed was his Louis Vuitton monogram briefcase.
While he kept his button-up and aviators for his Tonight Show interview, Bad Bunny swapped his casual jeans for a dapper double-breasted black suit and leather ankle boots. But worry not, the winning flip-flops and hat combo returned for his performance, where he wore an oversized white tee and navy New York Yankees sweats. Although we might not necessarily endorse his winter sandals, we’ve got to admit that Bad Bunny looks good no matter what he wears.
