Makeup artist Quinn Murphy shares exclusive details on the ‘Nobody Wants This’ star’s colorful look.
What excited Kristen Bell most about attending last night’s Golden Globes? “Two words,” she says. “Nikki Glazer.” Fair enough!
There’s no denying the first-time host killed it. But Bell was also nominated for her second Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy as the hilarious (and undeniably stylish!) Joanne in Nobody Wants This. Not to mention, she looked every bit the shiny, golden movie star for her big moment.
A gilded vision, Bell wore a shimmering champagne column gown designed by Ashi Studio with a slicked updo and lustrous rose gold smoky eye that glowed against her lit-from-within-complexion. “The juxtaposition of understated and edgy, soft and glam, makes me feel so beautiful!” Bell tells InStyle of her look, crafted by makeup artist Quinn Murphy, using Chanel Beauty products.
“Kristen’s look was about a delicate balance: subtle elegance and quiet strength,” says Murphy. Beginning with the eye, the makeup artist started by lining Bell’s gaze with the Chanel Stylo Ombre et Contour in Contour Clair before defining the lids with Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette in Warm and adding a pop of iridescence with Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in Quartz Rose. Complementary washes of pink complemented the soft-focus look; cheeks were enhanced with Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in Scintillement, and lips were painted in Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Liquid Lip Colour in Chic Rosewood.
All in all, Bell’s makeup was eternally wearable and gorgeous in its rose-tinted harmony. “Kristen’s rose gold sequin gown was both eye-catching and subtly elegant,” says Murphy. “I wanted to find a balance of features, a look where the eye moves from place to place on the face, adding a bit of mystery and nuanced glamour.”
