Following a fashion fairytale of a year for Ayo Edebiri—marked by Luar at the SAG Awards, custom Louis Vuitton to the Emmys, and Thom Browne for her SNL hosting debut—the actor turned to one of her most-worn labels for the 2025 Golden Globes: Loewe.
“I was so excited to get to collaborate with Jonathan Anderson and the Loewe team on this look, and with my stylist, Danielle Goldberg,” Edebiri tells Vogue. “I felt really inspired by the costumes [Anderson] designed for Luca Guadagnino's film Queer, and loved the idea of playing around with menswear—especially with a suit that felt of that era.”
As Edebiri and Goldberg began planing for tonight, another reference also came to mind: “Danielle and I remembered Julia Roberts’s grey suit from the ’90 Golden Globes,” Edebiri says. “We’ve maybe been talking about this look since October or November, so for the past few days, seeing it bubbling up again has felt like wild kismet.”
Edebiri, Goldberg, and Anderson landed on a custom iteration of a look that debuted on Loewe’s spring 2025 menswear runway: a tailored blazer in grey wool with a coordinated waistcoat and draped trousers. “The shoes were actually a men’s style that they made for me!” Edebiri says of her oxfords, adding that her gold leaf pheasant feather necklace was pulled straight from the runway. The actor tapped Dee Carrion for makeup that felt “feminine but in a sharp way” and manicurist Eri Ishizu for nails with gilded accents. In another nod to Roberts, she debuted red hair, colored by Jacob Aaron Dillion.
To finish her look, Edebiri added a Loewe Puzzle bag—and another notable accessory. “The grill was made by this amazing jeweler, Vanessa, of Mental Gardens, who I’ve loved for a minute,” Edebiri says. “I sent Danielle her work and then a meme of this guy singing ‘Silver and Gold,’ because a reference can be anything.”
The entirety of Edebiri’s look, from the suit to the grill, was a surprise to her cast mates on The Bear, who are celebrated five nominations. (Edebiri was up for best performance by a female actor in a television series.) “We do not text about our outfits,” she says (we had to ask if fashion ever makes it to the group chat), “but I also like to be surprised! The men on my show throw some very serious fits down.”
Though Edebiri has become an awards show regular in recent years, attending the Globes, she says, is no less thrilling now than when she first attended in 2023. “It’s always surreal, but I think and hope that it always remains that way.” And the actor had especially high hopes last night. “I’m really excited to meet Wallace and Gromit,” she says. “They are real people to me.”
