Beachy blondes, bobs, and beyond.
Since her first Baby Guess add at age two, Gigi Hadid has been delivering unforgettable style moments. Throughout the years, Hadid has undergone several hair transformations, each more stylish than the last. From icy platinum to warm brunette, and long, flowing locks to a sleek bob, Hadid has yet to find a hair look she can’t pull off. Here, find 10 of Gigi Hadid’s best hair looks through the years, plus insider- ips on how to achieve them from her glam team themselves, including her colorist of 10 years and the hairstylist behind some of her most iconic red carpet looks.
Meet the expert
- Keith Shore is a celebrity colorist at Sally Hershberger salon with 15 years of experience. He’s been working with Gigi Hadid for 10 years.
- Dimitris Giannetos is a celebrity hairstylist whose clients include Gigi Hadid, Megan Fox, and Demi Moore.
This Hair’s Got (Heavenly) Body
Often heralded as standout Met Gala year, 2018’s Heavenly Bodies carpet gave us Gigi’s gorgeous stained-glass dress, paired with a blowout that’s heavy on the volume. While the front pieces are close to her head and adorned with gold barrettes, the rest of her hair goes sky-high before cascading down her back with a soft curl. The end result is nothing short of ethereal and otherworldly. Some might even say heavenly.
French Girl Chic
The two can’t-miss ingredients for the quintessential French girl model off-duty look? Undone hair and a red lip. Don’t be fooled, though-a lot of effort went into this effortless mane. Giannetos achieved this by blow-drying Hadid's hair in small sections for maximum volume. “Afterward, I pinned each section into small curls and let them set. Once the curls were cool, I gently brushed through them to soften the waves. To finish, I teased the roots slightly for that tousled, sexy, beach-wave effect," Giannetos says. "The final result was a look that had texture, movement, and a bit of that ‘I woke up like this’ vibe, but in a way that still felt polished and intentional. It was the perfect mix of old-school glamour and modern, effortless cool.”
Power Pony
“Gigi and I often reminisce about some of our favorite looks, and one that always stands out is her red-brown Met Gala color,” says Keith Shore, who has been coloring Gigi’s hair for almost a decade. “It’s a shade we both adore. For that event, we not only colored her hair but also matched a custom hairpiece to create a flawless, seamless look. The contrast against her white dress was striking, and the overall effect was pure elegance. We transitioned from a copper tone to that rich red-brown fairly quickly, but the real challenge was making sure the added piece blended perfectly.”
Blonde Bombshell
“I loved the Cannes Film Festival blowout I gave Gigi because it was elegant, sophisticated, and perfectly combined three current hair trends: the heavy side part, Old Hollywood waves, and the '90s supermodel blowout.” says Giannetos about this jaw-dropping look. “My goal was to make her look like a classic movie star while still feeling modern, cool, and effortlessly chic.”
Pin-Up Princess
2024 has been the year of the bob for Gigi. Earlier this year, she rocked tight, old Hollywood-style curls while clad in head-to-toe Thom Browne. Yet another Met Gala look makes the list, and for good reason.
Claws Out
A masterclass in day-to-night. After attending Cannes with her showstopping blowout (see above), Giannetos tied his pies-de-resistance back with a shimmering green claw clip, leaving a few pieces out to frame her face.
90s Babe
Gigi’s been rocking the blonde for awhile, but we can’t forget the moments that came out of her brunette era. For her 26th birthday, Gigi posts a selfie of her warm-chestnut hair in bubble braids. It’s giving 90s baby—how fitting!
Tied the Knot
Gigi’s hair reaches peak blonde here. This intricate half-updo pulls separate pieces of her hair back, accentuating texture and shape, into a top-knot, while leaving an almost-icy soft wave that reaches her tailbone and contrasts nicely with her black Givenchy. Unsurprisingly, Shore was integral to this shade. “Blonde hair, especially with highlights, requires serious TLC,” he says of her bright locks. “Hydration is key. Gigi is very disciplined about minimizing damage. Even with daily blowouts for work, she makes hydration a priority, which is why her hair always looks so healthy and luminous.”
Poolside Tresses
In a recently shared selfie, Gigi Hadid showed that sometimes a little sunshine and a swim is the perfect hair recipe. She captures her chin-kissing bob with an exaggerated side part for that effortless summer glow.
Straight-Edge
Hadid posted this selfie earlier this spring, showing off the short chop simply styled; straightened hair with a soft flip.
