No pants has never looked preppier.
Kristen Stewart has been on a pants-optional style streak this year, stepping out in numerous underwear-as-outerwear outfits featuring everything from a cheeky cut to a thong design. And on Saturday, the Twilight alumna demonstrated how to take the pantsless trend into sweater weather territory, wearing ultra-mini knit panties as she stepped out in Santa Monica.
While appearing at a weekend Q&A for her 2021 film Spencer, Stewart gave the micro hemline the winter treatment with her signature cool-girl styling. Her hot pants looked ready for colder temperatures, thanks to the undies’ cashmere fabric. Paired with a matching gray cardigan from Magda Butrym, the bottoms featured a granny panty-inspired, high-waisted design and a trim of white lace, exposing her legs that were clad in sheer black tights.
Stewart went for a more quiet luxury version of the no-pants aesthetic, adding a very demure gray sweater in the same material, a white T-shirt, and Gossip Girl-coded footwear. She complemented a pair of black patent leather sandal platform heels with preppy white socks.
While fielding questions from fans alongside Spencer director Pablo Larrain at the Aero Theater, Stewart added some subtle shine to her ensemble with a silver chain necklace. Wearing her brunette hair in a messy bun, the actress accessorized a pair of white-rimmed retro-inspired sunglasses and added a subtly frosty berry lipstick.
It’s not the first time that Stewart has added a leg-covering accessory to her micro hemlines, as the star memorably paired black knit leg warmers with red heels and tiny athletic shorts back in March. Just a few days later, she also tried a pair of knit underwear in a cream cable knit design. Judging from Stewart’s latest outing, it looks like her penchant for pantsless fashion isn’t going anywhere as the year comes to a close.
