'Tis the season for the witchy woman.
From Wicked to Agatha All Along, it’s officially the season of the witch—and it seems that Catherine Zeta-Jones got the memo. At last night’s opening ceremony for the Red Sea International Film Festival 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the actress wore a striking cobalt blue cape dress that brings to mind some of pop music’s witchiest women: Stevie Nicks, Daisy Jones, Suki Waterhouse, Florence Welch, and even evermore-era Taylor Swift.
Zeta-Jones' shimmering plisse dress featured a sweetheart neckline, a fitted waist, and a dramatic billowing skirt complete with a thigh-high slit. But the real star of the look was the matching cape that twists elegantly around Zeta-Jones' neck before flowing out in a long train behind her.
The Wednesday actress paired the eye-catching look with a pair of nude heeled sandals that wrapped around her calf almost like a witchy tree branch. She wore her hair in long, loose curls and accessorized with a pair of drop earrings and an array of funky silver rings.
Zeta-Jones was joined by her husband, Michael Douglas, who sported a classic black suit. The pair were pictured smiling and waving as they held hands on the red carpet. The pair have been married since 2000 and share two children, a son, Dylan, and a daughter, Carys, who has begun borrowing from her mother’s wardrobe.
Zeta-Jones is set to return as Morticia Addams in the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday in the new year; the project recently wrapped filming.
Zeta-Jones also revealed that she is working on an indie project. “I can’t talk about it right now, but I am doing a little indie picture and I’m really excited about that, because I’ve never been part of that indie world,” she said at the opening night of the film festival, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I want to turn up. I want to do some interesting work.”
