It was a partially upcycled piece.
Meghan Markle may have access to the world’s finest luxury goods, but when it comes to upcycling her favorite pieces, she’s just as happy to do so as her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. Case in point? Her necklace of choice for the Paley Honors Fall Gala, which she also sported back in March for an appearance at Godmothers bookstore.
The glimmering tennis necklace was the star of the show at Wednesday’s Gala, which Markle attended to support Tyler Perry for his acceptance of the Paley Honors Award. (Perry is Archie and Lilibet’s godfather.) Containing roughly 20 carats worth of diamonds, the piece, designed by Logan Hollowell, is worth approximately $33,000. According to the brand’s website, it’s inspired by Fortuna, a Roman goddess of fortune and luck.
"Crafted in 18k gold, this tennis necklace is a manifestation of Fortuna's powers," reads the product description. "Each diamond, carefully set in the necklace, reflects the goddess's ability to randomize and bring luck, adding a touch of celestial brilliance to the wearer."
As for the rest of her look, the American Riviera Orchard founder kept things strikingly simple in a strapless black gown from Oscar de la Renta. The dress featured a sweetheart neckline—presumably a subtle nod to her royal status—and a modest slit. Much like many of Markle’s other fashion choices, the look recalled one aesthetic in particular: quiet luxury.
Markle’s attendance at the Paley Honors Fall Gala is just her latest in a series of solo appearances this fall. Recently, however, she was able to reunite with her husband, Prince Harry—a touching moment that was captured on video.
“It’s clear that a twin-track approach is evolving,” a source told People in October. “The Duke and Duchess have now hit their stride as individuals—not just as a couple. The Duke appears focused on his patronage work, and the Duchess focused on her entrepreneurial track.”
