She paired the tuxedo gown with an unexpected wet hair look.
Halloween might be over, but Selena Gomez is drawing from Wednesday Addams’s iconic goth aesthetic for her latest red carpet appearance. As the multi-hyphenate joined Hollywood’s A-list crowd at the 2024 Governors Awards on Sunday, November, 17, Gomez put a moody twist on menswear dressing in a floor-length beaded gown that emulated a tuxedo.
Gomez's Ralph Lauren design paid homage to the Addams family’s youngest child with a preppy mock neck collar and matching white cuffs fitted with black cuff links, which contrasted the otherwise all-black gown. Covered entirely in shimmery black embellishments, the “very demure, very mindful” dress hugged Gomez’s figure with an elegant body-con silhouette, structured shoulders, and long sleeves.
While the Rare Beauty maven leaned into preppy goth territory with her gown, her old Hollywood accessories were anything but. Gomez’s unexpected wet hair-inspired ballerina bun, which featured a deep side part and several baby hairs swooped across her forehead, showed off a pair of giant statement Boucheron diamond earrings that looked like bedazzled feathers. Her fingers also got the diamond treatment, as she added some sparkle with several large cocktail rings including a large pear-shaped diamond, a lion face ring blinged out with diamonds, and a black gem ring set with even more diamonds.
Gomez, who was joined by her Emilia Pérez co-stars Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofia Gascon on the red carpet, leaned into a sultry glam look for the annual awards ceremony. She accented her eyes with a Wednesday Addams-approved gray metallic smokey eyeshadow and black liquid eyeliner. Petal pink blush and a subdued shimmery pink lipstick added a hint of color to her otherwise gothic color scape.
