We're swooning!!!
It's safe to assume you've heard one of Sabrina Carpenter's catchy ballads, or find yourself singing "Espresso" throughout the day. While she's known for her musicality, Sabrina's beauty looks are especially noteworthy. Whether she's wearing a generous amount of blush, a sharp cat eye, or lips with a patent-leather glossy shine, we've had our eye on her makeup creations for quite some time now.
Meet the expert
Natalie Dresher is a professional makeup artist working in both Miami and New York City.
Ahead, we consulted a pro makeup artist and decided to take on the task of creating a step-by-step tutorial of one of her makeup looks that's had us blushing from the start. Keep scrolling for all of the dreamy details!
Sparkly Shadow
To emulate Sabrina’s champagne-hued sparkly lids, I applied liquid eyeshadow to the lid and blended it upward into the crease. I’m using this Armani Beauty Eye Tint to create a subtle shimmer and eye-brightening effect. When working with liquid eyeshadow, start by applying a small amount as a test first to see how sparkly it really is, and then you can build out more product as you go, as it’s easier to add than take away.
Tight Line
Continuing with the eye look, there’s a tight eyeliner visible on the top lid for definition. Liquid eyeliners are ideal as they usually have a fine point and can create the thinnest of precise lines on the lids. I applied Addiction Tokyo The Liquid Eyeliner in shade Black River to the top of my lid at an angle to create a visible thin line for a nice contrast detail.
It's All About The Blush
This look has no shortage of blush, so it’s essential to use a product that will give you a great hue and a formula that lasts. I have a fairer complexion than Sabrina, so I opted for a pink that complements my skin and give me enough color without looking overdone. “When creating a Sabrina Carpenter look, you need to blush over and make sure the blush is focused on the apples of the cheeks, then drag it up into the temples,” says Drescher. “This will create that youthful yet snatched look that Sabrina is now known for.”
I applied the Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint in Shade Fresh and blended it around the apple of my cheeks in an upward motion using Anisa Beauty’s Multi-Powder Brush. A fluffy brush is ideal as it spreads the blush evenly on the cheeks and can be blended nicely for a lasting finish.
Want your blush to last? Dresher says the key is layering: "I definitely recommend layering a liquid blush under a powder blush to make the blush last since blush is one of the first things to disappear from the face."
Glazed Highlight
To re-create that dewy pop of highlight on Sabrina’s cheeks, I used Ogee Organics Sculpted Face Stick in the shade Opal, building up the shine little by little. The great thing about cream highlighters is that they adhere well to the skin, and you can continue to layer them until you get the desired shine level you’re after without them looking too cakey. I started at the center of my cheek and moved the highlighter upwards to create an all-over glow. When using a cream highlighter, you can press a tiny bit in the corners of your eyes, the tip of your nose, and above the cupid’s bow for added dewiness.
Doll-Like Eyelashes
Sabrina emulates a doll-like eyelash, where they are slightly separated and make her eyes appear more open, so I opted for Colorescience Total Lash Mascara and used the thick wand horizontally and vertically to create tiny gaps in my lashes. Apply the mascara to both the top and bottom lashes for definition, cleaning up any smudges with a Q-tip. Dresher explained, “Sabrina has perfectly mascara-ed lashes framing her eyes for every look she does. Keeping the lashes separated and coated is the perfect way to get that doll like look.”
Juicy Pout
For the lips, applying a lipstick that has both a glossy finish and a plumping component is a great option when wanting to recreate Sabrina’s rosy, defined pout. I applied Tarte Cosmetics Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump Gloss in shade Honeysuckle to create a visible shine. If you want to add more definition and shape to your lips, follow up with a lipliner in a similar shade, gently lining and defining the edges of your lips until you feel it’s right.
The Final Look
I was able to bring this dewy complexion and blush-forward makeup look to life with just a few products, and the process was beyond fun and quite simple. From the shimmer on the lids to the juicy lip shine, don't be afraid to recreate this look for yourself—we can't wait to see the results!
