Her red carpet history features hit after hit.
Demi Moore is one of few A-listers that’s in a league all of her own. Almost synonymous with Hollywood, Moore’s been in the public eye for over three decades, starting her acting career in the 1980s with roles that would eventually become cult classics like St. Elmo’s Fire and Ghost. The latter earned her her first Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Molly Jensen. But it was after several box office hits like A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, and G.I. Jane that she would be catapulted as the highest-paid actress of the 1990s.
And unlike so many actors that have come and gone over the years, Moore has cemented herself as a mainstay of the industry. As she evolves as an actor (and eventually as a producer and director), so does her incredible sense of style. She’s unafraid to take risks and experiment with color, texture, and shape, but she also knows what works for her with more timeless silhouettes. Moore has become a total pro on the red carpet and has proven that her style is only getting better with age.
In the last few months alone, she’s been all over to promote her latest starring role in the film, The Substance. She’s traveled to Cannes, Toronto, and London—all while churning out drop-dead gorgeous looks—each one better than the last. And even though Moore’s sense of style seems to only get more and more interesting, she’s always had a strong POV when it comes to the red carpet.
Below are Moore’s top 15 best red carpet looks past and present.
In Loewe at the "The Substance" Screening in 2024
Moore stepped out most recently in a head-to-toe Loewe look from the label’s fall/winter 2024 collection. The casual, yet cool outfit consisted of a tailored navy blazer with a collared button-down complete with a tie. Her camel-colored oversized parachute pants matched her tiny dog, Pilaf—who she brought along with her on the carpet. In addition to Pilaf, Moore accessorized her menswear-inspired look with gold-rimmed aviator glasses. The whole thing was such a slay.
In Oscar de la Renta at the "The Substance" Premiere in 2024
Moore absolutely stunned by wearing a plunging strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta. The red and black number was made with scarlet mosaic tiles mixed in with intricate sequins. The dress was constructed with a mermaid silhouette and sweetheart neckline that flattered the actresses’ figure in the best way. With each move that she made, Moore’s light-reflecting tiled gown glowed along with the actress herself.
In Thom Browne at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024
Moore turned up to the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival wearing another menswear-inspired look. This time, she wore a black and white Thom Browne three-piece skirt suit. She softened the look slightly with a high-waisted satin maxi skirt with a sparkling brooch on her left hip. She tucked a white collared long-sleeve blouse into her skirt and added a black tie. Moore’s perfectly polished look was complete with diamond jewelry and pointed-toe pumps.
At the the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival in 2024
The actress flexed her sartorial muscle at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Moore walked the closing ceremony red carpet in a beautiful and timeless black and white gown by Celine. The satin dress featured a dramatic white bow that sat diagonally across her bodice. She wore black strappy sandals that you could see poking out through her dress’ high slit. She finished the look with diamond jewelry from Chopard.
At the the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival in 2024
For her own film’s premiere at the French film festival, Moore opted for yet another breathtaking satin gown. This one is from Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture spring/summer 2024 collection designed by Daniel Roseberry. The nude-colored strapless ensemble was designed with a statement bow pointed to one side. The rest of the gown was effortlessly fitted to her body with an outward flare at the bottom. This has to be one of her best looks ever…period.
At the the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival in 2024
As if Moore didn’t already cause enough of a stir at Cannes, she wore yet another, strapless show-stopping fitted number. Her crimson column gown by Armani Privé was crafted with red and silver beading with sequins throughout. The rounded v-neckline created an unexpected shape while the rest of her form-fitting dress was really working for her in every way.
In Saint Laurent at the "Common Ground" Los Angeles Special Screening in 2024
What I love most about Moore is that not only can she shut down a red carpet in a gorgeous gown, but she can also do it while wearing something a bit more pared back. Take this sleek belted pencil skirt and tights look from Saint Laurent that she wore to a screening in Los Angeles in January 2024. Her all-black outfit was equipped with a black top and leather moto jacket. She wore her signature pin-straight hair down and accessorized with her favorite aviator glasses.
In Carolina Herrera at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards
In 2023, Moore attended the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards to present her friend Gwyneth Paltrow with the Innovation Award. Moore made sure to dress the part in her shining sequin silver gown by Carolina Herrera. The dress hit just above her ankles to show off her barely there black strappy sandals.
In Fendi at WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards in 2021
Moore suited up in an all-black velvet Fendi look for the Wall Street Journal’s annual Innovator Awards in 2021. Moore wore the cinched-waist blazer as a top with nothing else underneath except for a black bra. She attended the event with Fendi’s artistic director Kim Jones.
In Saint Laurent at the Met Gala in 2019
Moore decided to stick to her signature sharp style instead of conforming to the Met Ball’s yearly theme—and honestly…respect. She wore a sleek plunging long-sleeve gown by Anthony Vacarello’s Saint Laurent. With it, she wore a long silver chain necklace and diamond drop earrings. The actress clearly knows what works for her.
In Christian Dior at the "Rough Night" New York Premiere in 2017
Moore showed off her more playful side at the Rough Night premiere in New York in 2017. She wore a multi-colored bright pleated gown by Christian Dior. The spaghetti straps featured crystal embellishments which added an extra sparkle to a fun and flowy look.
In Versace at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in 2010
Some red carpet moments will inevitably go down in history as the most remembered, and Demi Moore’s 2010 Academy Awards look is among them. The actress wore a nude ruffled silhouette by Atelier Versace. She accessorized the multi-dimensional look with Van Cleef and Arpels jewels.
At the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2009
Moore earned herself a place on the best-dressed list after wearing another pale-colored ruffled gown. This time, it was in a light pink shade with a crossover neck detail. She wore sparkling cuff bracelets as well as diamond drop earrings and a ring. She held a silver clutch with a crystal-embellished buckle. Oh, and she was married to her second husband, Ashton Kutcher at the time. The two walked the carpet together.
At the 49th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in 1997
Demi Moore rose to fame for her work in film, but also because of her high-profile relationships. The actor was previously married to Bruce Willis and the two attended many exclusive events together in the ’90s. For the 1997 Emmy Awards, Moore wore a dazzling navy blue sequin gown as she and her beau arrived on the red carpet.
At the The 52nd Annual Golden Globe Awards in 1995
In 1995, Moore attended the Golden Globes where she was nominated for her part in If These Walls Could Talk. She wore a silver beaded short-sleeved gown with a floral design for the occasion. She also debuted a new pixie hairstyle after having to shave her head for her role in G.I. Jane that same year. She looked as elegant back then as ever.
