Put your paws up, Little Monsters: This evening, Lady Gaga showed her support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz by making an appearance at the candidates’ final rally in Philadelphia—just a few hours before Election Day. The singer hit the stage in Pennsylvania to perform an acoustic rendition of “God Bless America,” her powerful vocals (and facility at the piano) on full display.
While Gaga may be known for her theatrical stage style, she delivered an intentional look for the occasion. Stripping things back, the star wore a classic leather moto jacket with a white tee and jeans—punctuated with a heart brooch featuring the United States’ stars and stripes. “For more than half of this country’s life, women did not have a voice,” she said post-performance. “Yet we raised children, we held our families together, we supported men as they made the decisions. But tomorrow, women will be a part of making this decision. Today, I am holding in my heart all the women who made me who I am. I cast my vote for someone who will be a president for all, for all Americans.”
She went on to cede the stage to Doug Emhoff, saying, “Now, it’s my privilege to introduce someone who knows how to support a powerful woman: the soon-to-be first first gentleman of the United States.”
This wasn’t the first time Gaga has used her platform to stand with the Democratic Party. Back in 2021, the superstar also famously performed the national anthem (in Schiaparelli!) at President Joe Biden’s inauguration celebrations in Washington, D.C.. Tonight, however, Gaga was joined around the country by fellow singers Katy Perry (who performed a set that included her 2010 hits “Part of Me” and “Firework” over in Pittsburgh), Christina Aguilera (who turned in a fiery performance of “Fighter” in Las Vegas), and Ricky Martin, as well as celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Fat Joe.
