The message paid homage to her latest role.
Kate Winslet put an unexpectedly floral twist on menswear for her latest red carpet appearance. While stepping out at the Women In Film (WIF) annual gala in Beverly Hills on Oct. 24, the Titanic star leaned into CEO dressing as she turned heads in an oversized pinstripe power suit with an unexpected message written on her sleeve.
With bold padded shoulders and a double-breasted design with tortoiseshell buttons, Winslet’s corpcore Erdem blazer from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection was softened with a soft floral design. The cream thigh-length jacket was emblazoned with black pinstripes and baby blue flowers, giving it a spring aesthetic. The matching wide-leg pants in the same pinstripe and flower pattern showed off a pair of black pointy-toed leather heels underneath.
Winslet, who accepted the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Film at the gala, showed off an unexpected message on her sleeve as she posed on the red carpet. The Lee actress’s cream Erdem suit had an off white patch that shared the designer’s name as well as a quote from photographer Lee Miller, whom Winslet plays in the upcoming biopic. It read, “I’d rather take a picture than be one.”
The star wore her blonde hair in a tight middle-parted low bun, which showed off a pair of large silver hoop earrings. She leaned into the spring color scheme with light pink eyeshadow, dewy skin, and a glossy peach lipstick.
Before accepting the award, Winslet shared her best advice for young actresses, telling People that embracing mistakes and not being too hard on yourself are some of the best things you can do for yourself.
“The main thing I say is that mistakes are not only celebrated, but they're important because if we don't make mistakes, we can absolutely never learn,” she told the publication. “And we all make mistakes, and there is no such thing as perfect. And just to completely be themselves. Because if they can be themselves, they've always got that to hang on to and to keep them grounded.”
She continued, “I mean, that's honestly what I do. And try not to be hard on myself. I think women in general, we're hard on ourselves all the time. It's a terrible waste of energy, and I don't ever want to look back at my life and think to myself, 'I wish I had been kinder on myself.' I want to do that now, and always be doing that.”
