She’s seriously playing with proportions.
I was recently reading an article about how people are all dressing the same. And honestly, I see it. We get inspiration from TikTok and Instagram, and, eventually, piece together an outfit with these outfit ideas in the back of our minds. It might not be “original,” per se, but it works, and that’s okay. But, if you want some original outfit ideas, there’s always one star you can turn to. She doesn’t follow any dressing rules; she simply dresses to the beat of her own drum: Sarah Jessica Parker.
Parker, who’s been busy filming And Just Like That… always whips out the most original, out-there ensembles when she’s on set. It’s Carrie Bradshaw, after all, folks, so you can’t expect anything less than bold originality. This time around, Parker (err, Bradshaw), wore the color of the season: maroon. And she did so in the most out-there way. The actress styled a velvet maroon top, which had a square-neck and long sleeves with coordinating thigh-high boots that basically engulfed her entire legs. She wore pants, but honestly, I don’t know where those end—or how she managed to tuck them into her shoes, either.

But alas, SJP’s look is all about color, proportions, and thigh-high boots that have been making waves in the fashion world for a while now. Speaking to color, she paired two autumnal hues together perfectly—maroon and forest-green—which I’d even go so far as to deem neutrals because they pair well with everything. When it came to proportions, she paired a tight top with big pants, and if there’s one thing we know about the fashion world, it’s that teeny tiny tops and big, billowy bottoms are the bread and butter of a cool-girl ‘fit.
And last but certainly not least are those knee-high boots that basically go up to her hips—wow. But, SJP’s extra tall footwear is proof that the boots that crawl up your entire leg are still very much in. Amal Clooney wore a pair of dominatrix-style shoes last year, and Rihanna just wore her own version with a sexy sweater dress (yes, sweater dresses can be sexy). Long story short, this particular silhouette is genius for fall because it basically acts as additional leg coverage and warmth, which means you can wear them with micro minis or long pants à la SJP (and if you dare tuck them in, do so with caution!).
