It’s my secret to surviving hot L.A. summers.
Thanks to the resurgence of tenniscore brought on by Zendaya’s Challengers press tour earlier this year, my own wardrobe, which is full of tennis skirts and dresses, is more relevant than ever. I’ve played most of my life, and I’d be lying if I said the stylish pieces that I’ve accumulated over the years weren’t at least partly responsible for my love of the sport.
That’s why I was so excited for the opportunity to try out the Tennis Pro Aeroready Dress from Adidas. The brand, often spotted on celebs like Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Lopez, and Amal Clooney, is known for its must-have sneaker styles, but I have long overlooked its athleisure collection. Not only is this dress practical for playing on the court, but the breezy style, comfortable stretch fabric, and pleated skirt have made it a go-to piece in my closet for everyday wear, too.

Since the dress is primarily meant for playing tennis, it has added features that elevate the practicality compared to similar athleisure dresses in my wardrobe. The lightweight material is moisture-wicking, and it also comes with shorts to wear underneath for added coverage and functionality, including that they help to prevent rubbing and chafing during the intense summer heat. I like that the shorts aren’t attached to the dress, so I can wear them on their own while working out or with a comfy T-shirt for lounging around my home.
The style features a high neckline and a sheer, pleated-skirt that feels airy and provides plenty of movement. It’s elevated enough to wear while running errands or layered with a sweater for a casual lunch or dinner. Shoppers agree, like one customer who said the dress is “so fashionable,” adding that it’s “very comfortable while playing” tennis. They also appreciated the dry fit fabric that’s ideal in the heat.
While I love styling this piece for everyday wear, it has also become my favorite dress for the court. Since the overlay isn’t form-fitting, it never rides up or makes my legs feel confined, which can be a problem with other styles. Plus, the breezy material is a must for helping me survive hot L.A. summers. The Tennis Pro Aeroready Dress comes in both white and pinkish-purple, and sizes range from XS to XL.
