I’ve spent some serious hours lounging and people-watching at the pool this summer, which got me wondering, “What are pool-goers’ swimsuits of choice?” I reached out to Ariele Floyd, a YMCA lifeguard and swim coach of 10 years, to see what trends she’s encountered, given the fact that she spends most of her days poolside. 

Floyd named four stand-out trends that have appeared on her pool deck on repeat: bold colors, high-leg cuts, fun fruit prints, and strapless bandeau bikinis. And now that I know the trends, I applied my shopping expertise and rounded up 15 styles with a mix of one or all of these elements. The best part? I wasn’t surprised when Floyd named the four bathing suit trends she was seeing. When I did my annual swimsuit shopping at the start of the summer, I found myself eyeing many of these trends.
