Natalie Portman has fallen for the charm of a familiar shoe.
For as long as I can remember, I have seen my grandmother choose the same shoe for her most important events: square in shape, rounded at the toe, and marked by a wide, medium heel. It appears that Portman appreciates them too.
The actress recently appeared on The View to promote her new Apple TV+ mini series Lady in the Lake, in an outfit composed of elevated classic pieces. She wore flared jeans with front patch pockets, a white knit top, and the shoes that caught our attention—black patent block heels with a decorative silver plate. The always-in-style shoes are a design by Dior, as was Portman's blue canvas book tote.
Though Portman opted to take her granny shoes for a spin during the dog days of summer (the temperatures in NYC have been scorching recently) the heels are also a great option for fall and winter; they pair well with long A-line dresses, classic suiting, and midi skirts. In Portman's case, they were the perfect addition to an otherwise casual look, making her denim a bit more dressed up.
With black sunglasses, small drop earrings, and a no-makeup makeup look, Natalie Portman proved that sometimes less really is more—especially when less involves our grandmothers' favorite heel.
