Actually groundbreaking.
Gird your loins! Miranda Priestly is back. She made her icy arrival at Paris Fashion Week this morning, where she left everyone doing a double-take to see that it wasn’t Meryl Streep bringing her to life, but rather, a chillingly spot-on impersonation by transformative makeup artist Alexis Stone.
Of course, everybody wants to be the cutthroat Runway editor, but not many can do what she does—except for Stone, who looked uncannily identical to the character. In Miranda's likeness, Stone arrived at Balenciaga's haute couture show dressed in a black pencil skirt and tights, a gray satin blouse layered under a matching trench coat, black pointed-toe pumps, sheer black gloves, and a chic black leather purse, all from the Spanish fashion house.
Even more impressive was Stone’s face, which she transformed into a spitting image of Miranda by use of prosthetics, The Devil Wears Prada character’s signature soft glam, and her iconic crisp white coif. The celebrity impersonator finished things off with gold hoop earrings, silver-framed shades, and a persistent look of slight disgust and disappointment. That’s all.
Stone took to Instagram to share some videos and photos from the day, which saw her talking on the phone, posing, and walking with a rather convincing ‘I’m better than you’ air. She also gave a behind-the-scenes look at putting the incredible impersonation together.
"We started working on the Miranda Priestly for @balenciaga 2024 Couture transformation 3 months ago," Stone wrote. "Here’s the video from the first makeup test we did. Thank you Demna, the team and of course Meryl Streep."
This isn’t Stone’s first rodeo. The artist is frequently “borrowing faces,” as her Instagram bio reads, including Shrek, Cardi B, Jennifer Coolidge, Lana Del Rey, and Madonna, among many others. She also cosplayed at Balenciaga’s last show in October, that time as Glenn Close’s Cruella de Vil.
