Bondage meets eyelet lace.
Katy Perry is putting her own twist on the barely-there fashion trend by wearing a bondage-inspired gown that was more cutout than dress. On Sunday, the “Firework” singer lit up the runway with a surprise, ultra skin-baring appearance at Vogue World: Paris. Standing out amongst a crowd of stars wearing sheer designs, Perry took things up a notch at the elite fashion parade as she went nearly naked in the daring leather design.
Joining fashion royalty like Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Linda Evangelista on the runway, the former American Idol judge made her sartorial mark at the third Vogue World event, which was themed around sports and fashion this year.
During the 1980s decade section, which was inspired by martial arts, Perry strutted out onto the catwalk in a vintage Noir Kei Ninomiya dress that featured huge cutouts offset by floral and geometric leather designs. The barely-there bodice, which showed off Perry’s full torso minus a few strategically-placed pieces of fabric, was connected to a skirt that also featured the same leather lace as well as blush-colored tulle floral adornments.
Contrasting the delicate florals with the bold leather accents, the gown featured bondage-inspired details such as the harness-like bodice and leather straps. Perry’s choice of footwear, a pair of spiked lace-up leather boots, added a gothic element to her outfit.
The “Teenage Dream” star slicked back her dark hair into a sleek wet style and chose a full beat for her Vogue World runway debut, going monochromatic with a berry-hued lipstick paired with matching eyeshadow and blush.
