She nailed the golden disco ball aesthetic.
Halsey turned back time in a Cher-inspired red carpet look that could have been transported straight from an ‘80s discotheque. As the “Without Me” singer stepped out for the world premiere of MaXXXine on Monday night, she looked just like the iconic singer in a two-piece gold sequined set that flaunted her toned midriff and lower abs, courtesy of gigantic hip cutouts.
Halsey appeared to be taking fashion cues from a gold disco ball in the two-piece Bronx and Banco Cleopatra gown, which featured a tiny underboob-baring sequin bra top with thick straps and a matching floor-length skirt in the same glittery material. The daring design of the skirt–a nod to Cher’s many ab-baring looks–was achieved thanks to the extremely low-rise skirt and huge cutouts that dipped all the way down below Halsey’s hip bones.
Halsey gave the biggest nod to the “Believe” singer with her beauty look. She wore her hair in black voluminous curls and paired it with barely-there brows, heavy black eyeliner, sculpted cheeks, and a metallic rose lip—all ‘80s staples.
While walking the red carpet with her co-stars Lily Collins, Mia Goth, and Elizabeth Debicki, Halsey confirmed she’d taken inspiration from the singer for the “very Hollywood” look.
She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I wanted a little bit of late ’70s, early ’80s Cher, you know what I mean? The big hair and the open-tummy silhouette, and a little Grace Jones in the face with the eye makeup. I was kind of looking to those divas who were turning the times at the end of ’70s, catching up to the ’80s.”
