Bella Baxter who? Emma Stone has officially shed her Academy Award-winning character’s bushy eyebrows and voluminous pastel dresses in favor of a much darker look.
Fresh off her Oscar win in March, Stone has already pivoted to promoting her next film: Kinds of Kindness, also from Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos. While the forthcoming collection of three interwoven short stories is still largely under wraps, British Vogue’s Radhika Seth wrote that it “makes Poor Things look like a Disney movie.”
So it should come as no surprise that Stone changed up her look to match the tone of the pitch black film. (While she doesn’t go full-tilt on the method dressing, she does like to play up the film’s aesthetics.) For the Kinds of Kindness premiere in New York, the actor did just that.
Stone wore a draped, boat-neck dress riddled with midsection cutouts from none other than Louis Vuitton. Primarily composed of a polka dot netted mesh, the dress was mostly sheer, save for a black front panel printed with the LV damier. She opted to keep the accessories to a minimum, lending all of the attention to the sexy, diaphanous dress (which she wore over a pair of black boy-shorts), adding just a pair of strappy black heels and stud earrings.
But the vampy dress wasn’t the only change of pace for Stone. The actor also debuted chocolate brown hair—a subtle, yet significant change from her go-to auburn, which we saw at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
Whether she’s in peach tones and peplums or channelling her inner siren in black mesh, leave it to Emma Stone to nail premiere style.
