This isn't her first rodeo.
When it comes to getting dressed for the red carpet, it’s often the norm to sacrifice comfort for style—but for Brooke Shields, it’s the other way around.
On Sunday, the model attended the 2024 Tony Awards and chose comfort above all else, ditching her heels for one of fashion's most polarizing shoes: Crocs. And not just any pair of the perforated clogs, but a bright yellow style that was impossible to miss—however, in case you did, Shields pulled up her dress to show off her foam shoes for the camera.
She teamed her divisive footwear with a matching sunny yellow gown that featured a plunging neckline, a sequined bodice, and a delicate bow tied at her hips. Pearl earrings, a stack of bracelets, and a reflective gold clutch rounded out her accessories, while her glam consisted of a glossy lip, shimmery light pink lids, and her signature bold brows.
Acknowledging the pink (er, yellow) elephant in the room, Shields told People: “I got my Crocs! I couldn’t do this in heels!” Meanwhile, a day before the event, the actress further explained that she got “double foot toe surgery” with a photo of her feet in braces on Instagram.
Brooke Shields Made This Practical Style Hack Look Shockingly Glamorous
Despite having a good reason for wearing the surprising footwear on the red carpet, this isn’t Shields’ first time slipping on Crocs with a fancy gown. Back in 2008, she wore a hot pink, one-shouldered maxi dress with a pair of Crocs in a coordinating fuchsia color while out to dinner in Los Angeles with her husband, Chris Henchy.
What can we say? Old habits die hard.
