Lady Gaga’s “off-duty style” is hardly casual. Remember when the avant-garde superstar went hiking in heels? There’s something to be said about her commitment to serving a high-fashion look—even if she’s just going to the grocery store. Last night, Gaga couldn’t resist delivering yet another head-turning style moment, when she stepped out with her fiancé Michael Polansky for a romantic date night in L.A. This time around, her weekend look was all about an eye-catching accessory.
The bold piece in question? A custom Tod’s top-handle bag splattered with “GAGA” in big, neon orange letters. According to the fan account @lamaisongaga, the bag style is called the “Di,” and the silhouette is based on an archival Tod’s design that was a favorite of Princess Diana’s. To make it feel more Mother Monster-worthy, however, leave it to Gaga to brand it with her own name.
The rest of her ensemble—including an oversized Acne Studios moto jacket and staggering platform heels—also made the whole ensemble feel very Gaga. Personally, though, we love the idea of carrying a bag that serves as an homage to, well, yourself. Should we start branding every handbag we own? Nothing a little spray paint can’t achieve!
