These are our 10 favorite items, including Mary Janes and skin-like foundation.
As a fashion and beauty writer, I like to think that I do a good job at keeping my finger on the pulse of what’s in and out at any given moment. And thanks to Google, now I have a pretty good idea of what will be trending this spring.
The search engine just released its Spring Try Guide, which highlights some of the top fashion and beauty searches that have been surging ahead of spring. (Google also enlisted the help of stars like Martha Stewart and Jenna Lyons to curate some of their favorite items, so you know they’re good.) In terms of makeup, it appears it’s all about a glowy complexion and plump pout this spring, while trending spring fashion includes everything from wardrobe basics to modern (dare I say, edgy) takes on timeless layering pieces.
Below, we rounded up 10 of our favorite spring 2024 trends according to Google, from Tarte’s tubing mascara and E.l.f.’s liquid filter to cushy Hoka sneakers and a classic white T-shirt.

One of the top trending makeup products is Laura Mercier’s Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation, which rose in search interest by 550 percent over the last few months, per Google. And honestly, it makes sense; the foundation offers medium coverage and is waterproof while still looking like your natural skin. “[It] melts into skin and blurs pores,” wrote one fan, while another person who said it felt like silk raved that “the finish is so gorgeous even on textured skin, it’s like an instantly glowy, bouncy blur.” And to enhance that glow further, you could always pair it with the trending $14 Halo Glow Liquid Filter from E.l.f..

Other trending makeup products include Tarte’s Tartelette Tubing Mascara, which a 60-year-old shopper said made their “sparse lashes thicker and longer,” as well as Makeup By Mario’s MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum. The tinted balm has lip-plumping ingredients and offers a touch of color with a glossy finish; it’s pretty much every lip product currently in my purse in one product. So for simplicity’s sake, I’ll be grabbing one!

In terms of fashion, basics are having a major moment. Button-downs are being searched for across the entire country, with the classic white button-down leading the pack. This $27-pick from Amazon is a great option for anyone looking to get the look for less. The style is still sophisticated thanks to a crisp collar, but slightly more relaxed than a traditional button-down thanks to its oversized fit. Plus, it boasts more than 4,000 five-star ratings. White T-shirts are also trending, and my personal favorite tee that I wear once a week is currently just $10 at Amazon.

Of course layering pieces are also trending for spring. While classic khaki trench coats have been spotted on celebrities including Amal Clooney and Hailey Bieber, an edgier alternative is trending for the season; per Google, searches for black leather trenches have been surging since October. This faux-leather Risissida trench coat, which is on sale for $54 at Amazon, is a great way to get the look on a budget. Though if your style leans more casual, you’re in luck; denim jackets are also trending. As a long-time fan of Madewell’s sturdy (but unbelievably soft) 100-percent cotton denim, I’m reaching for this timeless button-front jean jacket.

In terms of shoes, comfort is in for spring 2024. For something practical but still dressed-up, a pair of Mary Jane flats are a must. According to fans of this on-sale pair from Franco Sarto, the shiny faux-leather style is “the most comfortable shoe you could possibly ask for.” “I was shocked that they had zero breaking in period,” the customer wrote, adding that the padded insoles are “a dream come true.” Plus, the style even got the stamp of approval from shoppers with plantar fasciitis. And for something more casual, Hoka’s popular Clifton 9 sneakers are on the list, too. This athletic style features a thick outsole that cushions the foot without weighing it down, making it a personal favorite of mine — and more than 2,900 Nordstrom shoppers — for running and walking.
